Toshiba new 10.1″ Honeycomb Tablet with 7.7mm thickness and 558g weight

Toshiba is putting its tablet on a serious diet with its latest AT200 tablet having a thickness of only 7.7mm. That’s 0.9mm thinner than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (8.6mm) and 0.16mm thinner than the latest Galaxy Tab 7.7 (7.86mm). It is also lighter too at 558g which is just 7g lighter than the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Despite having paperweight dimensions, the Toshiba AT200 is no slouch. The previous model, the Toshiba Thrive AT100 boast having a full range of ports possible – full sized USB, mini USB port, standard size HDMI port and even a full SD Card slot. Unfortunately the AT100 was a monster in size at 16mm thickness with 725g of weight. For this new version, it still offers a variety of ports – micro USB, micro SD card slot and a micro HDMI port. Powering it is a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, 1GB of RAM and it also runs on the latest Android 3.2 honeycomb OS. There’s a 5MP camera at the back and a 2MP camera at the front.

Design wise it looks pretty sleek especially with its brushed metal back. The front looks awfully similar to a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 minus the obvious front facing camera at the top. As usual, no details of availability and we are not sure if Toshiba will be bringing this at all to Malaysia.

One more pic after the break

I like all these new thin/slim devices posted by soyacincau. They're all beautiful and stage of the art.

This Toshiba is the thinnest/slimmest tablet TODATE, and as usual, slim tablets all come with embedded batteries which are meant for rich, cuz either come the time for battery replacement, such devices are discarded due to their obsolesence or newer and better devices are out then.

For the ignorant not-so-well-offs who are just blinded by their beauty, they'll ve to fork money and time for the battery replacement.

But rite now, SamSung and Toshiba are hot now, until other brands release their new Tegra-3 devices in Oct. Then the whole ball game start all over again. Sigh….

    @ropaisoft

that's the technology world norm, break-neck pace of improvements.

or would you rather have a single product release a year? heh.

Thank God I decided not to buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1. If this baby has 32GB with 3G capability then I'll be getting this. See Samsung what happens when you idiots decide to release a tablet with only a pathetic 16GB. The Ipad 2 already has 64GB. Are you or are you not serious about competing with Apple? Even the motorola xoom has 32GB. You just lost a customer. Remember this next time: customers like options.

thrive fail. this one gonna succeed i believe. design n spec wise is very good.

Yes, totally agree with @ropaisoft and Reza. Customers like options, only possible with fast release of large variety of devices and options.

The very reason why Android is totally exhilarating, with your adrenaline running high every month, from new innovating devices with fantastic options.

Right now, to handle future Android OTAs into Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and beyond, the industry has more or less set minimum requirements for Android devices :

1. min. 1GB RAM (internal)

2. 1.5GHz processor (1.4GHz acceptable)

3. good quality display (SuperAMOLED, qHD,..)

4. dual(2) cameras (for video conferencing and Google+)

5. good battery power( min. 1850mAH for smartphones, min. 5000mAH for tablets).

If you don't have these, you're unlikely to get OTA updates. Existing old Android (2.2 and below) are totally ineligible for ICS and above, as most of them don't come with 1GB RAM min.

miss scofield

how much is the current price?
