After a number of “last calls”, webe has finally closed its postpaid plan for new registrations. If you we’re planning to get webe’s never-ending data, calls and SMS plan, the last day to signup was 12 January 2018.
Webe is one of the youngest mobile networks in Malaysia that’s backed by TM. It was first launched in April 2016 with full commercial services running in September 2016. Now it appears that its unlimited RM79/month postpaid plan might come to an end by 12 January 2018, or is it?
When webe was first introduced, its mobile postpaid plan at RM79/month gives you almost unlimited everything except for wifi tethering. A few months ago, they had offered a few months of 1GB of free hotspot data and obviously, that isn’t enough for most power users.
Probably after much persuasion by its potential subscribers, the TM mobile brand is now offering free 10GB of LTE hotspot data to all webe mobile subscribers.
If you’re thinking of getting one from a telco, this is probably the least appealing of them all.
TM’s webe is the only telco that offers a single postpaid plan that comes with unlimited calls, sms and data for RM79/month. The biggest limitation, of course, is its tethering hotspot feature. Unlike other telcos that let their subscribers tether for free, webe charges you each time you need to use your phone as a WiFi hotspot.
Probably after getting enough feedback and a nudge from its competitor, webe has finally revised its WiFi hotpsot/tethering offering. On top of that, they are also throwing free hotspot data for the next few months.
Webe is now entering the enterprise segment by introducing its business-centric mobile and broadband plans. At first glance, they are quite similar to its consumer offering but you do get a little extra.
