Smartwatches don’t do enough for me. They’ve always been this thing that costs as much as a smartphone but can’t do as much as a smartphone. I guess the benefit is that it lives on your wrist which makes it really portable, but is that enough to justify dropping thousands on one of these things? No, not to me at least.
But, I understand that there’s a demand for a smartwatch. Partly because it can come in handy, but mostly because people think it’s really cool. Well, if you cool is what you’re after and you don’t want to break your bank, Samsung’s new Gear S3 is definitely a device you should consider.

When? December 2016.
The new Samsung Gear S3 smartwatches are finally rolling out. It is now on sale in South Korea and it will be made available in others markets such as such as Australia, France, Germany, Singapore, UK and US beginning 18 November.
The Samsung Gear S2 was a pretty looking thing and they are turning things up a notch with its new Gear S3. Similar to last year, the Gear S3 comes in 2 flavours – the Gear S3 classic and the Gear S3 frontier.
Was the recently announced Mi Band 2‘s OLED display too small for your liking? If that’s the case, perhaps the 1.5-inch Super AMOLED panel on the front of Samsung‘s latest smart fitness tracker, the Gear Fit2, can entice you.
While Apple is dragging its feet to bring the Watch, Samsung Malaysia is finally bringing their latest Gear S2 smart watches to our local market. Announced during IFA 2015, the Gear S2 is Samsung’s first round smart watch that offers a more contemporary style along with a fresh new interface.
Cross platform pairing is usually a non-issue, at least when you’re on the same operating system. Unique to Samsung, Tizen OS wearables were never able to interact with other devices outside the Samsung name. Luckily Korea’s finest have smartened up this time and the Gear S2 has the ability to communicate with other Android smartphones. They left iOS out, at least until September, when they suggested that they might consider opening it up.

BlackBerry is struggling no doubt, but to be overtaken by an underdog platform is definitely surprising. Tizen, a Linux based mobile OS that supersedes Samsung’s Bada OS has finally overtaken BlackBerry as the 4th biggest smart phone platform. While we hardly see any Tizen smart phones in our market, Samsung has found significant success in the Indian market.
Samsung recently released the Samsung Gear A’s SDK to developers together with documents, sample apps and general info about the upcoming watch and this gives us a peek at the device’s likely design and hardware specs.
