The rumours are not true, there will not be an upmarket version of the Galaxy S5 but there is an updated version. Samsung today lifted the covers off the Galaxy S5 LTE-A created specifically for the South Korea market. In addition to the faster connectivity (up to 255Mbps on LTE-A, almost three times faster then LTE), the new phone features a higher resolution display and a faster processor.
The 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display gets a pixel bump pushing a of 2560×1440 pixels and a pixel density of 576ppi (versus 1080p on the standard Galaxy S5) . The new screen also has better colour reproduction (Samsung claims the display covers 90% of the color gamut), faster response time, and better contrast ratio (0.01ms response time and 100,000:1 contrast ratio respectively).
The Galaxy S5 LTE-A is also the first smartphone in the world to come with the latest Snapdragon 805 processor. The processor has 4 cores running at 2.5GHz and is mated to 3GB of RAM.
Other than that, everything else about the Galaxy S5 LTE-A is unchanged from the original Galaxy S5 including the 16MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, heart rate and fingerprint sensor as well a dust and water resistant shell. The 2,800mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat is the same as well.
The Galaxy S5 LTE-A is available for South Korea only at the moment and it sells for 940,500 Won which is about RM2,970 — pricey.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime or also known as the Galaxy F series has been speculated for quite a while now. According to a fresh report, the upcoming device apparently is going to be called as Galaxy S5 LTE-A which is sold exclusively through SK Telecom on the 19th June.
Instead of the speculated 5.2″ display, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be having the same 5.1″ display size as the Galaxy S5 but pushes Quad HD instead of the standard Full HD resolution. If you look closely at the teaser image above, you can spot a very fine WQHD in the Super AMOLED logo which confirms the Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440. The report also added that it will be powered by a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and it is likely to be mated with a more generous 3GB RAM as well.
So far there’s no word if such smart phone will be available outside of South Korea. In the past, we’ve seen 2 different speculations with one that looks like the Galaxy S5 with a perforated back and another version by @EVleaks which reveals a brushed metal back design. If the Galaxy Note 4 is taking too long to launch, Samsung might just release it internationally as a stop gap measure to counter competing smart phones with Quad HD displays.

The premium Samsung Galaxy F rumours continue and this time it is appears in “Perfect Gold” colour. Unlike previous Samsung Galaxy devices which are gold merely around the sides, the Gold edition for this one is more apparent with its entire metallic back covered with the royal colour. The name “Perfect Gold” sounds over-promising considering HTC has limited edition 18 carat gold plated devices.
With the abundance of leaks, it appears to Samsung is still working on its 5.2″ Galaxy S5 premium model which has be long speculated to come with a Quad HD display. At the same time, the Korean maker is also working on its upcoming Galaxy Note 4 with similar specs inside. In terms of design, the latest leaked photo shows very similar dimensions as the current Galaxy S5 thanks to thinner bezels at the sides.
The smart phone circle is already crowded with lots of high-spec models and Samsung is taking the approach of just flooding as many models as possible, simply because they can. Even now, they have a total of 9 mainstream Galaxy tablets which overlaps one another.
If the Galaxy F and Galaxy Note 4 are launched at the same time, the Galaxy F will be positioned differently as a premium smart phone with better materials. Hopefully it will be a device that feels as good in the hands as the current HTC One M8.

Following up from the many leaked pictures of the rumoured Galaxy F (aka Galaxy S5 Prime), is this latest shot obtained by PhoneArena showing a yet-to-be announced phone (on the left) placed next to a familiar looking Galaxy S5. In the picture, you can clearly see that the rumoured device features a significantly thinner bezel than the Galaxy S5 which suggests that it may also feature a bigger display.
According to rumours, the Galaxy F will be Samsung’s new flagship smartphone with hardware specs that top the company’s current high-end smartphone, the Galaxy S5 including a 16MP rear camera with OIS and Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB RAM.
It’s still too early to say if the Galaxy F is legit so, for now, take this with a pinch of salt.
The front display is bigger and appears to have thinner bezels at the sides with less space to waste at both top and bottom. As rumoured previously, the Galaxy F or speculated to be the Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to feature a larger 5.2″ display that does QHD resolution. The back comes with similar camera and heart rate sensor placement as the Galaxy S5 but the surface is noticeably different with a glossy and brushed aluminium look.
Considering that this device would be launching sometime later in September, it is advisable to take such rumours and leaked images with a pinch of salt. With Samsung’s tight secrecy, it is unlikely they have a prototype that looks like the final product this early ahead of launch. Just a few days back, @Evleaks revealed an image of the purported Galaxy F which appears to have brushed metal finish like its current nemesis, the LG G3.
Considering the Galaxy Note 3 replacement is coming out around September/October period, we could be seeing 2 flagship Samsung devices launching very closely together. So if you’re planning to purchase a smart phone during the year end holidays, which would you pick? The Galaxy F or the Galaxy Note 4? Leave your comments below.

It has been rumoured for quite some time now that Samsung is working on a high-end version of its Galaxy S5 that’s speculated to be called as the Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy F series. Serial leaker @Evleaks has just posted what claims to be the new Galaxy F which promises a more uprated build than its current flagship model.
The design while appears to be similar to the Galaxy S5 comes with a premium looking brushed metal back cover which is somewhat similar to its previous Samsung ATIV S. Even the edges look more refined with a smooth surface without additional lines. Like any Samsung smart phones, we expect the back cover to be removable as well.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy F is alleged to have a bigger 5.2″ display that does a higher Quad-HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Powering the device is said to be a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and support for faster LTE up to 225Mbps.
Samsung is having a big launch next week but it is likely that they are launching the Galaxy F much later at a separate event. Now @Evleaks is speculating a September release which is quite close to the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 launch that’s happening in Q4. If all these chatter are true, this would definitely challenge the LG G3 in both specs and build quality.
When the Samsung Galaxy S5 was announced, word has it that Samsung is working on a premium model that’s called the Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy F series. Samsung has improved the feel of the Galaxy S5 with a perforated rubberised back design which is a step ahead from its previous plasticky feeling flagships. The new device rumoured as the Prime, is expected to be even better with the usage of aluminium as shown here.
The side appears to be solid and smoother than the chrome finish that we get on the Galaxy S5. At the back, it retains the similar perforated look like its current flagship but this one looks slightly more upmarket. Also noticeable is that loudspeaker has been moved to the bottom of the device instead of having it at the rear like the Galaxy S5.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy S5 goes on par with other mainstream smart phones and the new prime is expected to widen the gap further. With Oppo and LG coming out with smart phones pushing beyond the Full HD (1920×1080) resolution display barrier, the Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to impress with a 5.2″ Quad HD display. This gives the device a very high pixel density of 568 ppi (pixels per inch), which is higher than the Find 7 & LG G3 display that does 538ppi on with their 5.5″ screens. In theory, you’ll get an even sharper and clearer picture but from our experience comparing a Quad HD versus a Full HD display, it is really hard to tell them apart.
Another game changer would be its processor which is said to be running on a newer Snapdragon 805 that’s mated to 3GB of RAM. Now this is a huge jump over its current Snapdragon 801 with 2GB of RAM that’s getting common in high-end smart phone models.
Check out the rest of the photos after the break.
More info of Samsung’s upcoming mart phone rumoured to be a high-end Galaxy S5 or a new F-series premium line has emerged again. According to SamMobile, the current Galaxy S5 was supposed to feature a QHD display but they had to settle for a Full HD display possibly due to production challenges. They added that the new device carries the internal codename KQ which is speculated to be a high end sibling of the current Galaxy S5 which is codenamed K.
Their trusted source shared that the development of the device is half-way through and it will be running on Samsung’s newer Exynos 5430, a faster 4G LTE modem and a Quad HD display. The Exynos 5430 is a Octa-Core unit with 4x A15 cores clocking at 2.1GHz and another 4x A7 cores running at 1.5GHz. Graphic performance is said to be better as well with a a faster Mali 600MHz GPU.
To keep up with faster 4G LTE speeds, the new device supports Cat 6 LTE with download speeds up to 300Mbps. Instead of using Qualcomm’s solution, the new device is speculated to feature Intel’s XMM7260 LTE modem for international models while the local Korean market units will be equipped with Samsung’s own LTE modem.
So far it is still too early to confirm any of these features would make it in the final product. Samsung is known to experiment with heaps of prototypes with various hardware specs. Earlier on, the new high-spec Galaxy S5 variant was rumoured with a 5.2″ Quad HD screen and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor.
If a higher spec Galaxy S5 is real, this would mean that we are looking at 3 flagship models in a single year. Or this is probably just a limited release premium model like the Galaxy Round.
