The LG Prada 3.0 is finally announced in Malaysia. With a retail price of RM2,299, it carves a niche in the branded smart phone category — at a price. The style centric device runs on a dual-core 1.0GHz OMAP4430 processor, 1GB of RAM with 8GB of internal storage. The sleek and glossy front features a 4.3″ WVGA IPS display that boasts a brightness of 800 nits for optimal viewing outdoors.
Other features include a 8MP camera that’s capable of shooting 1080p videos, a front facing 1.3MP camera, microSD slot, NFC and a 1,540mAh battery. To compliment the designer exterior look, the Prada 3.0 internally runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with custom monochrome UI.
Looking at the specification, the Prada is asking a lot for money for what it’s offering. Obviously being a designer device priced at premium, the Prada 3.0 is not something that will appeal to the mainstream. Perhaps it might find the right fit among those who seek exclusivity. The Prada 3.0 will be available at LG dealers nationwide in March.
LG’s distinctive looking Prada 3.0 Android-based smartphone is coming to Malaysia and if things go as planned, you can get one before this month is up.
The style-centric LG Prada 3.0 turned a few heads when it was officially announced late last year thanks to its unique couture-inspired design and a slender 8.5mm profile. We have not seen one in the flesh but the Prada 3.0 has a design that could rival the ultra-thin Motorola RAZR as our pick for one the most beautifully designed smartphones in the market.
In terms of specs the LG Prada 3.0 sits at the tail end of the top-of-the-line Android smartphone category with a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor that’s similar to the Optimus 3D. RAM has been upgraded to 1GB in the Prada 3.0 where the Optimus 3D only had 512MB.
The Prada 3.0 boasts one of the brightest displays for a smartphone with its 4.3-inch 800×480 resolution NOVA display pushing a brightness of 800 nits, which is 100 nits brighter than the LG Optimus Black. The better brightness capability should provide improved outdoor visibility during bright sunny days.
At the back, the Prada 3.0 features an 8MP camera capable of shooting 1080p video, there’s also a 1.3MP camera forward-facing camera (no word on if it can do 720p videos). Other specs include dual-speakers, 8GB on board memory, micro SD memory expansion, 1,540mAh battery and NFC.
The Prada 3.0 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread that has been given the Prada designer treatment with a custom monochrome UI, at the moment there’s no word on whether the device will be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich.
In terms of pricing, we’re predicting the LG Prada 3.0 to retail for around RM1,700, no more than RM1,800. Ideally, the Prada 3.0 should be priced lower than RM1,800 considering that faster dual-core Android devices are around that price range. We’ll concede that LG might want to put a premium on the designer brand but realistically, not many will perceive design as a main selling point.
Online retailer in the UK, Clove, has revealed the pricing for the LG Prada 3.0 fashion phone. Arriving to the UK in early February, the Prada phone will sell for GBP358.33 (excluding VAT). The price gives us some indication of how much the device will retail for when it comes to Malaysia, if LG decides to bring it to Malaysia.
Looking at current exchange rates, the LG Prada 3.0 costs around RM1,750 based on the UK price. Taking into account that devices sold in Europe generally carry a premium of around 10 – 20%, we believe that LG has room to price the stylish phone very competitively if it decides to bring it to Malaysia.

In terms of specs the LG Prada 3.0 sits at the bottom end of the top-of-the-line Android smartphone category with a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor that’s similar to the Optimus 3D but LG has upped the RAM to 1GB in the Prada 3.0 (whereas the Optimus 3D only had 512MB of RAM).

So fahionistas, a Prada branded smartphone for less than RM1,800…what do you think, stylish and affordable enough to tickle your fancy?
LG and Prada has officially announced their 3rd installment of the LG Prada. The new device looks pretty sleek and probably is one of the better looking LG smart phones to date. On the exterior the LG Prada went with a minimalist look with slender 8.5mm profile and rounded edges towards the sides which looks pretty familiar, if you know what we mean.
Powering the device is a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, that’s similar to the Optimus 3D but it now comes with 1GB of RAM. On the front, it has a 4.3″ TFT NOVA display that does 800×480 resolution. The LG Prada’s NOVA display pushes a 800-nits brightness, which is 100 more than the LG Optimus Black. This should provide better outdoor visibility during sunny days.
At the back, it has a 8MP camera capable of shooting 1080p and comes covered with a unique Prada texture which gives it an upmarket feel. Over at the front, there’s a 1.3MP camera. The LG Prada uses a lot of circular elements. At the bottom, it comes with dual speakers where the vents are round at both corners. The same round design is apparent at the top with its headphone jack, usb cover slider tab & iluminated power button in similar design.
The Prada look and feel is not just limited to the exterior as the smart phone has been customed skined with monochrome UI. Just like the Galaxy Nexus it also comes with NFC which can be used to share contacts or links by a simple beam. Internally it runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and no firm mentions of Ice Cream Sandwich update so far.
Pricing hasn’t be revealed yet but expect a premium for this fashion smartphone. However we do believe it should be cheaper than the P’9981 Porsche design BlackBerry.

Recent smart phones from LG are looking pretty bland and ordinary. Not to say it is bad but in the sea of smart phones featuring radical designs with premium-like textures, LG simply needs to do more to stand out.
Motorola just recently attempted to bring sexy back, by reviving its RAZR brand with its signature ultra thin design that’s reinforced with kevlar back. Looks like LG too is not standing still and they are in the midst of reviving their own iconic model that’s synonymous with sexy, the co-branded LG Prada.
Word has it that the 3rd LG Prada will feature a 4.3″ NOVA display that boast 1000 nits, a dual core processor, 8MP camera and with thickness below 9mm. Internally, it was said to be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The pics you see here were tipped anonymously at PhoneArena.
Just recently, it just got filled with the FCC and support for NFC is seen included as well. At first look, it does look sleek with rounded side edges. Even the top of the phone uses a lot of circle design for its buttons and switches.
