LG Malaysia is said to be bringing the LG Optimus L5 into Malaysia in July with the price tag of just RM719. The Optimus L5 is the middle model of the L-Series that’s more designer centric.
The Optimus L5 runs on a single core 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM with 4GB of storage that’s expandable with microSD. Over at the front you’ll get a rather generous 4.0″ TFT LCD display but with HVGA resolution of 480×320. That gives a pixel density of about 144 ppi. You’ll also get a 5.0MP camera at the back which only shoots VGA videos and it is powered by a 1,540mAh battery. For those looking for the latest, it runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
For this price tag and features, the LG Optimus L5 is going head on against other entry level ICS devices such as the HTC Desire C, Sony Xperia tipo and Sony Xperia miro. The other models of the L series – Optimus L3 and Optimus L7 was already announced at the price tag of RM499 and RM999 respectively.

We will be getting the Optimus L3 and the Optimus L7 which is priced at RM499 and RM999 respectively. Availability for both devices is slated for early June which is just a couple of weeks away. The L series emphasises on a new design philosophy that comprises of 5 elements: Modern square style, Floating Mass Technology, Seamless layout, Harmonised Design contrast and sensuous slim shape.
In terms of specification, the Optimus L7 runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage which is expandable with microSD. In terms of display, it has a 4.3″ LCD screen that pushes 800×480 pixels resolution. For imaging, it comes with a 5MP camera and the battery is rated at 1,700mAh. The good thing about the Optimus L7 is that it comes loaded with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is quite a breakthrough for LG which struggles to upgrade its current line up to the latest version.
For the Optimus L3, this is a rather entry level device which runs on a lower 800MHz processor, 384MB of RAM, 1GB of storage expandable via microSD, smaller 3.2″ QVGA display, a 3MP camera and a rather generous 1,500mAh battery. The L3 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

LG has announced its new Optimus L Series which will be revealed at MWC 2012. The L-Series is a fresh new lineup of Android smart phones from LG which comprises of 5 aesthetic elements:
Finally LG is taking product designs more seriously as the current crop of models are looking rather bland compared to its rivals. The trio – L3, L5 & L7 comes in different sizes. Just like a certain luxury marque, the bigger number indicates a bigger screen and a higher class.
Starting with the entry level L3, it comes with a 3.2″ display with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Moving up to the mid-level L5, it comes with a 4.0″ display with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The highest end of the range is the L7 with a slightly larger 4.3″ display which also runs the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS as well.
The full specifications isn’t revealed yet as they are keeping the rest of the details for MWC. It is likely that the highest end will be sporting a dual-core processor with a possibility of a HD screen. An interesting point is the “Floating Mass Display” which probably gives a much more realistic display as if it is on printed top of the screen.
With LG launching devices with the latest Android version with a more exciting designs, LG is certainly aiming to be a major player this year. Let’s also not forget that LG is taking on the phone-tablet players with its 5″ Optimus Vu. Another Press image of the trio after the break.
