Thinking of getting an iPhone 5 but don’t want to be tied down with fixed bundled minutes, data and SMS? Now Maxis offer more bundling options for the iPhone 5 with SurfMore75 and TalkMore78+1GB data bundling.
For those that uses internet a lot with little need for calls and SMS, SurfMore 75 offers 5GB of data at RM75/month. With 24 months contract, the iPhone 5 16GB can be yours at RM1,188 with this bundling.
For those that talk a lot, TalkMore 78 offers 600 minutes of calls and 500 SMS to all networks. With 1GB of bolt-on mobile internet, this comes up to RM126/month. With a 24 months contract, the iPhone 5 16GB is bundled at RM1,088.
Both plans require an upfront payment of RM1,000 during sign up which will be rebated back across 5 months. Alternatively for those that prefer the former iPhone 4S 16GB, it is also available at RM200 less on the same plan.

Maxis has finally revealed its Maxis One Club offering for the iPhone 5 which can be yours for as low as RM999. It is tied to iValue 2, 3 & 4 with 24 months contract duration.
The offer is actually similar to the earlier discounted iPhone 5 promo for loyal customers. However this time around, Maxis is waiving the advance payment which lets you fork out less cash during registration.
For more details, head over to Maxis One Club iPhone 5 promo page.
In other news, Maxis has announced that they have ran out of stocks for its iPhone 5 32GB and 64GB models. So far they haven’t announce any tentative dates when they would replenish their 32GB and 64GB units. Those who have pre-booked will be notified once stocks have arrive. If you are still thinking of which plan to get, do check out our iPhone 5 plan comparison.
Thanks @khhork87 for the tip!
UPDATE: Celcom bundled pricing updated with fixed rebate amount.
The iPhone 5 will be officially available at midnight with the big 3 telcos – Maxis, DiGi & Celcom offering the device on contract. Outright, the iPhone 5 is going for RM2,199 (16GB), RM2,499 (32GB) and RM2,799 (64GB).
Being a smart phone that’s mobile internet intensive, getting an iPhone 5 from telcos would make sense as they would be subsidising some of the cost through discounted phone price or lowered subscription fees.
So the question is which plan should you pick if you plan to go on contract? The 3 telcos offer plans with different bundling, subsidy structure at different price points. To help you decide, we have compared the subscription plans and the minimum total cost of ownership for easy reference.
Head after the break for the full comparison.
UPDATE: Bundled SMS on iValue Simple Plan is now applicable to all networks. Thanks Bashir for the heads up.
Maxis now introduces iValue Simple, a new low commitment plan for iPhone 5 bundling. This brings a total of 5 iValue plans to choose from if you’re planning to get your iPhone 5 from Maxis. At RM50/month, that’s half the price of iValue 1 plan. As expected at half price, you’ll get 1GB of data, 200 minutes of calls and 100 SMS. The call rates are charged differently at 12 sen/minute for Maxis to Maxis and 20 sen/minute to other networks. SMS are charged at 5 sen/SMS within Maxis and 15 sen/SMS to others.
In terms of contract period, there’s only 12 months option where the iPhones are offered with the following pricing:
iPhone 5 16GB – RM2,079
iPhone 5 32GB – RM2,339
iPhone 5 64GB – RM2,699
iPhone 4S 16GB – RM1,769
iPhone 4 8GB – RM1,239
Obviously the iValue Simple plan is well suited for light users if they find iValue 1 at RM100/month too much for their usage. In terms of iPhone subsidy, you’ll only save up to RM120 off (for iPhone 5 16GB) from the retail price which is rather little for a 12 months lock down period.
For the full details, head over to Maxis iPhone 5 page.
UPDATE: Maxis reveals One Club iPhone 5 offer with no advance payment required.
For selected loyal customers that have registered their interest for the iPhone 5, Maxis is giving extra discount of RM150 on the device pricing.
The offer is tied with 24 months contract on iValue 2 plans and above. The advance payment remains unchanged with RM800 for iValue 2, RM1,500 on iValue 3 and RM2,000 on iValue 4, which will be rebated back to your bill.
Pre-booking will be closed at 11:59PM (12th December) tonight, so reserve your spot if you haven’t yet through the email invite. The official Maxis iPhone 5 event is happening at CapSquare, PIKOM ICT Mall tomorrow night starting from 9PM.
Thanks to Mushtaq for the tip!
If you’ve signed up your iPhone 5 interest with Maxis, you should have received an invite in your mailbox. The invite reveals Maxis launch venue at CapSquare, PIKOM ICT Mall which is happening at 9PM next Thursday night on 13rd December. This also gives you an opportunity to secure a unit before the launch day itself.
To reserve your slot, the email directs you to a site where you can pick your prefered plan, iPhone 5 model and pick up time. You have a choice of 10 time slots to choose from starting from midnight 12AM on 14th December until 10PM 16th December.
In terms of plans, the iPhone 5 is bundled with 4 options of iValue plans with subscription from as low as RM100/month. Unlike DiGi & Celcom, subscribers outside the Klang Valley might have to wait a little longer for their iPhone 5.

Thanks @wong_dominic, @kmhork87 & @ihelpboard for alerting us via twitter.
Right on cue operators have started opening up Registration of Interest for the iPhone 5 after Apple made the official announcement that the latest iPhone will be available in more than 50 countries this month.
Maxis is the first out of the gate to open its registration of interest and you can expect Celcom and DiGi to start this week as well. With the advantage of its own online store, DiGi is very likely able to put an iPhone 5 in your hand without the need to stand in line but typical of Maxis, you can also expect that the operator will start selling the device from midnight December 14. Also, we have a feeling Maxis will offer a contract extension for existing iPhone owners still on contract to upgrade to the iPhone 5 but this has not been confirmed by Maxis at the moment. You can register for your iPhone 5 from Maxis here.
Thanks Cuscofoo for the tip
UPDATE: iPhone 5 officially announced for Malaysia on 14th December.
Twitter follower @kmhor87 points us to a listing on Mid Valley’s website indicating that Maxis will be organizing an “iPhone 5 promotion” from November 5 to November 11. Whether the listing is deliberate or accidental, we now have a possible answer for the question that many have been asking for a while now – when will the iPhone 5 come to Malaysia?
From the Mid Valley listing, we deduce that the iPhone 5 launch date in Malaysia will very likely be on Friday, November 9 with pre-orders and ROIs starting early in the week. Corroborating this information are job listings for part-time iPhone 5 promoters here and here that cropped up online about a week ago. If this is true, you should be able to get official units of the iPhone 5 in Malaysia from 12:01am on November 9. If the date is correct, Celcom, DiGi and Maxis will start selling the iPhone simultaneously then.
So what can we expect from Maxis? We’re thinking a possible revamp of its iPhone plans to offer more value and additional data. Also expect a contract extension offer and maybe a special deal for One Club members. In terms of device pricing, we don’t expect the iPhone 5 to deviate much from the prices of the iPhone 4S when it was first released here – approximately RM2,200 for 16GB, RM2,600 for 32GB and RM2,900 for 64 GB. And no, the LTE version of the iPhone 5 will not be available in Malaysia officially, please stop asking us.
Expect more iPhone 5 details including launch details and pricing from other operators to crop up as we move closer and closer to the big day.
As always, stay tuned for latest updates and follow us on Twitter for the most up to date developments on the iPhone 5 coming to Malaysia.

You’re planning to get the iPhone 5 from Singapore but the new nano SIM card that the device uses is not yet available in Malaysia, what are you to do? Well, just get one from Maxis.
In a statement, Maxis has announced that it is the first mobile operator in Malaysia to introduce the nano SIM. Maxis says that customers who already have an iPhone 5 and those who plan to purchase the device in the future can get the nano SIM for RM25 starting September 24 at the Maxis centres stated below. Other Maxis Centres nationwide will offer the new SIM format by late September.
Klang Valley
KLCC
Taman Tun Dr. Ismail
Sunway Pyramid

Queensbay Mall

Measuring 12.3×8.8 mm in size with a thickness of just 0.7mm, the nano SIM is 30% smaller and 15% thinner than current micro SIMs. Aside from the reduction in size and thickness, nano SIM continues uses the same smart card chips and offers the same functionality as current SIMs.
