LG has finally reveal its Optimus 3D at MWC boasting as the world’s first smart phone that comes with a stereoscopic screen, allowing you to view 3D without the need of glasses. Not only can you watch 3D content, the Optimus 3D also lets you capture 3D videos as well thanks to its dual camera set up at the rear.

In terms of hardware, the LG Optimus 3D offers a 1GHz dual-core OMAP 4 processor from Texas Instrumental, dual-channel memory for maximum throughput and dual memory set up (8GB + 4GB LP DDR2). The screen is 4.3″ wide and supports a resolution of 800×480. In terms of connectivity, it supports HSPA+, DLNA for wireless media streaming and HDMI 1.4. The 5MP camera is capable of shooting 1080p HD videos in 2D and a lower 720p HD videos in 3D format.

At the moment, it is launched with Android 2.2 Froyo pre-installed and 2.3 Gingerbread update is expected to come later on. Android Central, reporting live from Barcelona has posted a quick hands-on with the Optimus 3D and they seem to be pretty impressed by the 3D capabilities. Of course, it is hard to tell from the video and we can’t wait to try it out ourselves.

Having two screens on a mobile phone would be better than having one right? Maybe, and that’s the logic behind this latest Android phone to hit the market. The Kyocera Echo’s claim to fame is its unique dual-touchscreen setup consisting of two 3.5 inch 480×800 screens on two separate halves linked together with a proprietary hinge that’s made out of titanium which is developed in-house by Kyocera.

Hardware wise, the Echo packs a second generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor (QSD 8650) running Froyo (Android 2.2). There’s 1GB of on-board storage and an 8GB micro SD card included in the box (the micro SD card slot support cards up to 32GB).

If you’re wondering why the Echo is running a slightly dated Android OS it’s because Kyocera says that the dual screen interface required extensive customisation to the seven core native apps which includes the messaging, browser and email apps so that the user can utilise both screens when using these applications.

And the Echo can also work as a mobile WiFi router that can connect up to five WiFi devices to the internet simultaneously. Apart from that, you also get a 5MP camera with a single LED flash, auto-focus and digital zoom. The camera can shoot 720p HD videos.

With two 3.5 inch screens needing a lot of power to keep things nice a bright, you’d be wondering what’s the battery performance like on this device. Kyocera didn’t put out a specific number but they say users can get about a day’s worth of heavy use on both screens with the 1370mAh battery.

You also get a second battery with an external charging case that can double up as a battery pack for the device. This, to us, can mean two things, either Kyocera is very generous with the kit that they include in the box or you will needed the extra battery on a regular basis.

If you’re wondering when will the Kyocera make it to Malaysia, our advice is don’t hold your breath. Still the Echo is an interesting concept.

Last week we saw HTC releasing the long awaited Froyo update for the HTC Legend and HTC Aria. The next question is when is the HTC Wildfire‘s turn? We’ve been tipped that HTC Wildfire users in Europe are starting to get their Froyo update via OTA right now. This means that Malaysian users could possibly getting theirs in the next couple of days if it follows the same trend as the HTC Legend.

In the case of the Legend, the Froyo update for South East Asia (SEA) users was pushed about a week after Europe. Watch out for updates on HTC SEA support page or try checking manually in the next few days at [ Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates ].

Special thanks to Alvin for the heads up!

Before all you HTC Legend owners out here — us included — go out for celebratory drinks, you must know that the OS update is only for European region.

HTC UK has confirmed on its Facebook page that European HTC Legends will be getting the update to Android 2.2.

As for us, we’re waiting for an update from HTC Malaysia on when local Legends be getting the 2.2 update. Fingers crossed it won’t be far off from the European release.

It’s times like this when this Android fragmentation thing starts being a pain in the SD card slot, if you get what we mean.
