UPDATE: Added comparison for iPhone 4 32GB and 16GB for both 12/24 months contract. Please note that all DiGi’s iDiGi plans are tied to 24 months contract. The 12 months table below is for comparison only.
UPDATE 2: The iPhone 4S is launching in Malaysia on 16th December. Check out the iPhone 4S Plans from DiGi and Maxis.
UPDATE 3: iPhone 4S DiGi vs Maxis vs Celcom plans compared.
The iPhone 4 is officially available in Malaysia with both DiGi and Maxis starting from today. Both telcos are having different ways of bundling this anticipated device which could be rather challenging to compare. With the plans revealed, the biggest question now is which one is cheaper and comes with greater value?
To find out, we compared Maxis’s iValue plans with DiGi’s iDiGi plans as both had rather similar style of bundling talk time, sms, mms and data. iData is not included in the comparison as there isn’t a DiGi equivalent, plus the device is more expensive compared to its iValue offering. Just like our previous iDiGi vs iValue comparison, we list out all the bundled features for side by side comparison.

We had some alone time with the iPhone 4 at the DiGi launch and took the opportunity to take some detailed snap shots of the device and compare it with its predecessor, the iPhone 3GS.
While we welcome the enhancements in hardware, realistically, we don’t see the real need for 3GS owners to upgrade to the iPhone 4.
We like the Retina Display and the 5MP camera is a tremendous improvement over the 3MP offering on the 3GS but in terms of day to day use, the 3GS is just as smooth and can do most of the things the iPhone 4 can just as well.
Sure there’s no FaceTime on the 3GS but how often is the typical user going to use that feature?
Well, that’s our initial impression of the iPhone 4. It’s nice and everything but if you’re already using the iPhone 3GS and you’re not an Apple fanboy, you might not see what the fuss is all about. However, if you’re using an iPhone 3G and is looking to upgrade that, yes, please get the iPhone 4.
This is of course not our conclusive findings, we purchased an iPhone 4 at the Maxis launch (sorry DiGi) and will be looking at the device in detail in these few days. Look out for our review soon.
In the meantime, head on over to after the jump for a collection of pictures and some videos comparing the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS side by side.
What do you think 3GS owners, would you get the iPhone 4? Comment us.

DiGi has launched the iPhone 4 in Malaysia at Quill BMW showroom. Yes, we know it is rare to have a telco event in an automobile showroom. DiGi is first to “launch” in terms of event but their sales only starts at 10AM tomorrow at 45 DiGi outlets nationwide. This makes Maxis, the first to reach its customers at 12:00AM sharp.
Pricing wise, it is the same as the earlier revealed pricing, but they have reduced it to a further RM5/month if you subscribe for auto billing. You can check out their latest plan here.

Let us run through the extra points that we’ve discovered at the launch.
iPhone 4 Carnival at Quill 9
DiGi is throwing a carnival at Quill 9 BMW Showroom, Section 14, Petaling Jaya over this weekend. Exclusively at this event, they are giving an extra RM100 off for trade in of any phone in ANY Condition. So if you have an old brick phone from 5 over years back, this might come in handy. Of course, if you’re looking to trade-in your iPhone 3G/3GS, Maxis would have a better arrangement as posted here.
Subscribers that port in (MNP) from other telcos, will get exclusive offers including RM100 extra discount during the event and we’re told that they can get it on the spot! However, you can only pick either this or the old mobile trade-in RM100 offer. So no RM200 off if you port in and bring an old mobile.
Offer for existing customer
For DiGi priority customers, which is a reward program for high spending customers, they are giving RM100 off for customers that sign up from 24th September until 3rd October.
If you’re an existing iDiGi customer with an iPhone 3GS, you can get the iPhone 4 with no strings attached at RM300 off, no trade-in required or extensions to your current iDiGi contract. However this is only applicable for those who signed up before today and this is only available from 1st November onwards. So if you wish to take this offer, you gotta wait for more than a month.
That’s all we have for now. For more details, head to DiGi’s iPhone 4 page. Their official pricing is finally up.

Good news for existing iDiGi subscribers, DiGi giving RM300 off for no-strings-attached iPhone 4 purchases. This means the iPhone 4 16GB is going for RM1990 and 32GB version for RM2390.
Check it out at DiGi’s page.

UPDATE: DiGi iPhone 4 officially launched, read more here.
DiGi are in the midst of updating their website with the new iPhone 4 plans and we’re not entirely sure why the web guys are doing it in a live environment because they’ve just inadvertently leaked the much, much, much awaited iPhone 4 plans from DiGi.
We’re crunching the numbers to see if the numbers to see if the claimed “most affordable” moniker is true but at the skin of it, we’re thinking Maxis has a better proposition. What do you think? Take a look at tell us which one would you choose, DiGi or Maxis?
We’re just five hours away from DiGi’s iPhone 4 plan launch and we’ve gotten some more details on what will happen later this evening.
Confirmed that there will be a roadshow at Quill 9, Jalan Semangat, PJ today, but it will only run from 25 to 26 September. DiGi is offering RM100 “savings” when you trade-in your old phone for the iPhone 4. For the bling-ers, you’ll be happy to note that there will also be some discounts on iPhone 4 accessories and the first 50 customers to sign-up with DiGi for the iPhone 4 will get a free and “exclusive” iPhone 4 sleeve. We don’t think it’s the original iPhone 4 bumpers sold by Apple though.
Other than that, there’s a lucky draw as well and that’s about it. Sorry, we wished we had more stuff to share but we don’t.
And finally, thanks for the headsup @icycold156

Before you jump for joy, this offer is only valid to DiGi’s Priority Service customers and runs from DiGi’s iPhone 4 launch day till 3 October.
Are you a DiGi Priority Service customer? Well first up, you can’t sign-up for it, DiGi chooses you and for you to qualify you’ll need to be with DiGi for at least 13 months and and spend on average RM300 a month.
Yeah, so…for more details and DiGi Priority Service, click here.

It looks like all bets are off and both DiGi and Maxis will be pulling out all the stops to entice you purchase the iPhone 4 from them. We are now just hours away from what could possibly be Malaysia’s most epic telco battle ever!
We were the first to report on the claim that DiGi made about it’s iPhone 4 offering being the “most affordable” in the country. Having placed a booking for the iPhone 4 with Maxis, we’ve now re-looked at our plans to get the device from Maxis knowing that DiGi could offer something better.
And we suspect many of you who’ve made bookings or are considering to get the iPhone 4 from Maxis are seriously reconsidering and waiting to see what DiGi has to offer.
Maxis is feeling the heat from this and have gone all out to get everyone to attend their midnight launch tonight. They’ve gone on all channels, including on radio, Twitter and via SMS to invite the general public to come to their midnight launch tonight.
Looks like whether you’ve made a booking or not, Maxis will entertain you if you come tonight to purchase the iPhone 4 with them. Not being able to offer the iPhone 4 as early as Maxis, DiGi is trying to woo as many people with of Maxis its yet to be revealed iPhone 4 plan.
From where we’re looking at it, it appears that DiGi’s tactic is working. Many are now playing the waiting game to see who has the better offer and if indeed DiGi’s iPhone 4 deal is the most affordable in the country.
Now the question of sufficient stocks come into play. If the difference in pricing is minimal, many would opt to get the iPhone 4 from the telco that can provide it on the spot. Many will recall that during the iPhone 3GS days, Maxis was notorious for ridiculously long waiting periods (up to one month or even more) while DiGi, although it had launch the 3GS much later than Maxis, was able to provide units on the spot.
The game will have changed slightly now as both telcos are launching the iPhone 4 at the roughly the same time which means that spread of demand will be split between the two — at what ratio, we can only estimate that more will opt to purchase from Maxis. How much more, we don’t know — you can however expect to be able to get the iPhone 4 from either telco quite easily in our opinion. BUT, as with all predictions, we could be wrong.
We’ll be at the DiGi launch today and the Maxis iPhone 4 launch tonight to give you the latest developments on this, so keep it locked on to SoyaCincau.com.

UPDATE: DiGi iPhone 4 officially launched, read more about it here.
There are probably two reason why DiGi is keeping very quite about it’s iPhone 4 plan, 1)the plans are humdrum, nothing special kind, or 2) it is good enough to make you think twice about getting the iPhone 4 on a Maxis contract.
And judging by the banner they’ve put up for the media launch even happening at 1800hrs tomorrow, we’re suspecting that it’s the later.
DiGi is putting out a bold claim saying that offer the “most affordable” iPhone 4 in the country. We don’t know about you but that is enough to make us think twice about buying an iPhone 4 from Maxis. Make no mistake, we’ve made a booking on an iPhone 4 with Maxis. Now, we’re not too sure.
Well, all will be revealed when DiGi makes public its iPhone 4 plans. We will be there at the launch and we will try to give you the updates as it happens, stay tuned.
To make things more interesting, there is also a probability that Maxis will change their iPhone 4 plans during their midnight launch tonight. Jeng, jeng, jeng!
In the meantime, we’re asking you. Which will you choose? DiGi or Maxis? Comment us ya.
Oh, and to those that’s wondering where the event will take place, it’s a Quill 9, 112 Jalan Semangat, PJ. Note that it’s an invitation only event and no iPhone 4 will be on sale at the venue. We’re not sure if there will be public demo outside of the venue but we will update you when we get there to save you some time and hassle, because as you know, traffic will be crazy along that route at 1800hrs.

(Update: 23092010 00:09hrs) DiGi claims it’s iPhone 4 offerings are the most affordable in the country. Read all about it here.
(Update: 22092010 15:33hrs) We just got our invite for the DiGi launch tomorrow. Thanks you DiGi PR
Also big thanks to the unnamed source. We don’t know you but you’re awesome!
(Update: 22092010 15:33hrs) Our unnamed source says that it is confirmed that DiGi will be holding a media launch for the iPhone 4 tomorrow, 23 September at 1800hrs ahead of Maxis. iPhone 4s are no available for purchase at media launch but demo units are available for playing around with. At the event DiGi will reveal it iPhone 4 plans. It is also revealed that you will be able to purchase the iPhone 4 from DiGi from 25 September onwards at the One Utama roadshow. We are still trying to get invites for this event. DiGi PR, if you’re reading this, please do drop us a line. Thanks!
Word on the street is that DiGi will launch the iPhone 4 at the same time as Maxis but we are getting unconfirmed reports from an unnamed source that DiGi will be launching the iPhone 4 TOMORROW, 23 September. Specifically at 1800hrs, a full 6 hours ahead of Maxis’ planned midnight iPhone 4 launch.
The source is unable to confirm if this is simply a plan unveiling or if subscribers will be able to get the iPhone 4 on the spot. And it looks to be a media event, possibly not a public one, which means it’s invitations only. Whatever it is we’ll update you on developments as it happens.
