HP’s Personal Systems Group VP has announced that HP will not be introducing a Windows Phone 7 device. This is a big blow as HP has been a long term partner of Microsoft smartphones since the early days of iPaQ Pocket PCs.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as HP has put in a huge commitment with its purchase of Palm and its WebOS platform. HP puts much importance on what they believe is the best experience via WebOS which is their sole focus at the moment. So don’t expect any Microsoft Windows Phone or even Android devices from HP anytime soon.

After HP’s purchase of Palm, it has been rumoured to taking advantage of the deal by offering webOS on its upcoming HP Slate tablet PC. Obviously coming in as an iPad competitor, it needed something worthy and Palm webOS is their weapon of choice. Looks like Microsoft OS is getting dumped after all. Perhaps 2 versions might be offered, we’re not sure.
The HP Hurricane is also rumoured to be release in Q3 which is perfectly timed before Christmas sales.

There’s still hope left for Palm and webOS fans out there after all
Week’s of speculation have ended and as you’ve may have already heard, the world’s largest technology company, HP, has just announced that it will be buying Palm for US$1.2 billion. Generally people are happy for Palm as it lives to fight another day.
The brand that arguably ushered in the dawn of the modern age of PDA with its PalmPilot devices and Palm OS is also tremendously optimistic about HP’s acquisition.
But the announcement brought mix reactions from the mobile tech fratenity with some pondering on whether the smartphone pie is big enough for another OS to thrive. The size of the pie is one thing but can HP really compete in the hotly contested smartphone market? Remember the iPaq anyone?
