Smartwatches don’t do enough for me. They’ve always been this thing that costs as much as a smartphone but can’t do as much as a smartphone. I guess the benefit is that it lives on your wrist which makes it really portable, but is that enough to justify dropping thousands on one of these things? No, not to me at least.
But, I understand that there’s a demand for a smartwatch. Partly because it can come in handy, but mostly because people think it’s really cool. Well, if you cool is what you’re after and you don’t want to break your bank, Samsung’s new Gear S3 is definitely a device you should consider.

UPDATE: Samsung’s Gear S3 price is official. Available 8th of December 2016
When? December 2016.
The new Samsung Gear S3 smartwatches are finally rolling out. It is now on sale in South Korea and it will be made available in others markets such as such as Australia, France, Germany, Singapore, UK and US beginning 18 November.
The Samsung Gear S2 was a pretty looking thing and they are turning things up a notch with its new Gear S3. Similar to last year, the Gear S3 comes in 2 flavours – the Gear S3 classic and the Gear S3 frontier.
Samsung just confirmed the launch of their upcoming smartwatch, the Gear S3, on Twitter. The highly anticipated follow-up for the Gear S2 will be making its appearance very, very soon.
Samsung is expected to reveal its next smartwatch, the Gear S3 at IFA 2016 event that’s happening on the first week of September. The current Gear S2 was announced at IFA 2015 at a separate event right after the Galaxy Note5 was announced.
Was the recently announced Mi Band 2‘s OLED display too small for your liking? If that’s the case, perhaps the 1.5-inch Super AMOLED panel on the front of Samsung‘s latest smart fitness tracker, the Gear Fit2, can entice you.
The two premium versions of the Gear S2 Classic — the 18K Rose Gold and Platinum variant — have been teased in both CES 2016 and more recently the Samsung Southeast Asia Forum, but there has been no word on when they would go on sale. Now, we have a price and availability.
The best part? It’s cheaper than expected.
At CES 2016, Samsung unveiled two new colours for their popular Gear S2 Classic smartwatch — 18K Rose Gold and Platinum versions. Now, Samsung has brought these two editions of the Gear S2 Classic to the Samsung SEA Forum and we got to take a quick look at them.
Traditional timepieces are still adored by the masses but when you have an accessory that tells the time and lives on your wrist, your (smart)watch by all means, should last you through the week; that is unless you’re using a Samsung Gear S2. Through our experience with this smartwatch, it definitely doesn’t come close to the manufacturer’s quoted two-three day battery life; mostly lasting us a day and a half at most.
If you’re like us and are unhappy about the battery life on your new Samsung smartwatch, this new software update might just give you a little extra time – see what we did there.
