Maxis via its twitter account @maxiscomms has revealed that they are bringing in Google’s Nexus S to Malaysia. The announcement was made to call upon interested bloggers to sign up for the Maxis 10 program for a chance to review devices with the potential of keeping them in the end of the program.
This is certainly a great addition into Maxis’s array of Android bundled devices and the Google Nexus S is worth looking forward to with its Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. With its NFC Capabilities, we wonder if Maxis’s FastTap will be extended to the Nexus S as well.
Finally, an proper channel to purchase with bundling possibilities for a Google device.

While we are still waiting for the white iPhone 4, Google’s Nexus S is already available in White – sort of. According to BestBoyz, Germany would be receiving the above white Nexus S which is basically has a white backplate while maintaining the same black colour front just like the iPhone 3GS and HTC Evo 4G.
No doubt some will argue that this isn’t a true “white” phone but at least this is some form of variance offered officially. We’re sure it won’t take too long before some smart entrepreneur starts selling Nexus S backplates in a wider range of colours.
According to the source, the German destined Nexus S units will also come with Super AMOLED despite some earlier speculation that other parts of the world may receive the alternative Super Clear LCDs.

This is provided of course you are pinned down under a vending machine. Not sure what to make of what you’ve just read? Perhaps we should introduce you to El Vendor first.
El Vendor is a series of five viral videos created to promote the Android platform. We’re not sure what the inspiration behind the narrative was but here’s how it goes, the hero was working late one night and got pinned under a vending machine while trying to get a snack.
While under the vending machine, the man became the most productive he has ever been, all thanks to his Nexus S. What happens next, you’ll have to catch the videos to find out. There are five videos in the series and all of them are waiting for you right after the jump

Google has just announced its latest update on its Google Goggles app that carries version 1.3 is improved with faster performance than before.
Scanning barcodes are now done in an instant. You no longer need to manually take a shot as it will immediately recognise the barcode by simply hovering over it. However as usual, most Malaysian products may not return results and this probably work better on international products. Another improvement is Goggles ability to recognise print ads. According to Google, Goggles is now capable of detecting print ads from U.S. magazines and newspaper from August 2010 onwards.
The biggest and most interesting feature for this version however is Goggle’s ability to solve Sudoku puzzles. We don’t play Sudoku but it is understandable how frustrating it is to get stuck and not being about to solve it. The next time you get into such situation, just launch Goggles and take a picture of the whole Sudoku puzzle. To download, search for Goggles in Android Market or at the AppStore.

It is pretty interesting to see easter egg hidden in softwares or in operating systems. What’s even more interesting is to discover them on your own mobile device.
Android Central had discovered an interesting easter egg found on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. To reveal it, you’ll need to tap repeatedly quickly on the Android OS version until it shows up. The easter egg on this one is static and there’s no functional game or animation to it.
Watch how it is done on a Nexus S after the break.

We know that this was bound to happen but we didn’t expect it to be this fast. Less than a day of its launch, the guys at iFixit have already completely torn down the Nexus S revealing findings for all of us to see.
Many are saying the Nexus S is just a re-hash of the Samsung Galaxy S. Is it really? Or is it a completely different device? Here are the key notes revealed by the teardown:

The best Android smart phone in the market today, the Nexus S, starts selling in the US as we post this blog. When the Nexus S will be making its way to Malaysia is anyone’s guest at the moment. So while we wait, let’s take a look at one of the most original ideas ever to make it’s way into the device unboxing genre.
These miniature stop-motion ninjas are not new, they’ve done this before, completely annihilating the box of the Nexus One when it was first launched way back when.
The unboxing video goes a step further to completely takeover your browser while you’re viewing it. It’s pretty hard to describe, it’s something you got to see to know what we’re talking about and it’s pretty cool.
The extraordinary nature of the video makes it not possible to embed and only viewable on YouTube so hit the link to check it out.

We’ll be honest with you we are very intrigued with the Nexus S. The Nexus One that preceded it set the standard from which all Android devices was measured, it paved the way for some of the best smartphones we have in the market today. The HTC Desire range and the Samsung Galaxy S are all device that came out of the Nexus One mould.
We’re hoping that the Nexus S will set the same standard. There’s no word on if the Nexus S will make it to Malaysia (and we hope that it does), in the meantime we will try our best to get our hands on one. But before that happens (and if it happens), we are reduced to reading reviews from the few US sites that managed to get a hold of the device.
One such site is Anandtech. It is probably one of the most detailed Nexus S reviews you’ll get on the internet. If you’re interested in the Nexus S, this is one review we recommend you read.
Spoiler: The Anandtech review concludes that the Nexus S is the best Android device in the market today but with the onset of dual-core Androids expected to make an appearance it a couple of months time will it be the best for long? The answer to this is something we all have to wait and see.

The Nexus S is probably the most talked about Android device in the world right now and for good reason. The Nexus One changed the game for Android and paved the way for the domination that open source mobile platform is enjoying today.
In many ways the Nexus One is a legendary device and like all legends, its successor has all the work cut out to at the very least live up to the name. Does the Nexus S cut the mustard? Well for us it’s too early to tell but here are some of the early reviews from those who have received seeding units of the Nexus S compiled by the people from Android and Me.
As you’ll see, just like the Nexus one, the Nexus S is getting a mixed bag of opinions from the reviewers and that’s expected. The thing that’s left to known is if the Nexus S will change the game as much as the Nexus One did before it. That is a question that only time can answer.
In the meantime, head on over to after the jump for the review roundup.

So we all know that the Nexus S sports a 4in Super AMOLED display, but what we don’t know is that not all Nexus S will be sporting the same display technology.
Russian bound Nexus S will come with Super Clear LCD instead and that got us thinking which version would us Asian be getting when the Nexus S comes to town (if it ever does).
If you’re wondering which display technology is better, well you can have a read on the comparison between the two here. Apparently Super Clear LCD uses more power, that’s not a good thing considering Super AMOLED is already a power guzzler in its own right based on our experience.
Anyway, which one would you prefer on your Nexus S?
