It’s co-founder has announced that the Android version of Instagram will be released very soon but without any specific dates mentioned. He added that in some says, the Android version would be better than the current iOS app and it works optimally for larger screens.
On why it took so long, they said they had priorities. In December, its CEO had mentioned they have 2 developers working on the Android version. To date, Instagram has over 27 million downloads on iOS.

Yes Android users, the Android Market (along with other services like Google Music and Google eBookstore) is no more, in its place Google has created a service called “Google Play” where you get apps, games, movies, music and books, all in one place.
Google would like you to think of Google Play as your “digital entertainment destination” and while you might not see much of a difference in the Android Market at the moment, in the coming days, the Android Market icon will change to “Google Play Store” icon.
Google Play is Google’s attempt to bringing some serious threat to Apple’s dominant iTunes service for music and video and also to compete more aggressively with Amazon’s Kindle service allowing users to access content seamlessly across platforms be it on their Android device or the Web.
Unfortunately though most of the great features on Google Play are – at the moment – not available to Malaysian users, this is because beyond apps, there are really not much else we can purchase online via the service. Content like music, videos and books are not available for most Malaysians to purchase online. This is mostly because of copyrights issues that need to be sorted out. For now, we can only hope for the ability to purchase content online come to Malaysia soon.
In any case, to celebrate the launch of Google Play, Google is offering massive discounts for a lot of great apps like “World of Goo” (US$0.49) and “Where’s My Water?” (US$0.25). The SwiftKey X Keyboard is also on offer going for US$0.49 in conjunction with the launch of Google Play

Photos taken on smart phones are priceless and the thought of losing them to theft or damage is painful. Now Dropbox has updated its version for Android where it allows automatic upload to your account. Whenever you snap a pic, you can be rest assured that it stored safely in the cloud which is accessible through your desktop and other devices.
Having a low 3G data plan? You can opt to have Dropbox upload only via WiFi so that you won’t incur surprise 3G downloads in the background. After installing, you will be prompt whether or not you wish to upload all existing photos/videos stored in your phone. Alternatively you can skip this step and Dropbox will only upload new photos. You can get your free Dropbox account here. By default, it comes with 2GB of storage but you can get more by inviting friends or purchase additional space.
Apart from Dropbox, Google+ also offers a similar feature where it automatically upload your photos and videos to your private album on Google+. This eventually would make it easier to share to your friends if you’re an active Google+ user.
If you need to stash up more than just photos, another service called Box is offering a whopping 50GB of cloud storage for Android. There’s no automatic photo uploads for Box but with a generous serving of 50GB, who would complain? You can download Box here and it is valid until 23rd of March 2012.

With over 20 million users there’s no denying that Instagram is a very popular application but at the moment it is for iOS only. The developers have mentioned that an Android version is currently in the works but there’s no indication of when users can expect the popular app to make the leap. But if this screenshot captured from a promotional notification on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is anything to go by, Instagram for Android may only be days away from its much-awaited debut.
This is still far from definitive but it gives a glimmer of hope that Instagram could only be a few day away from being available in the Android Market. Would Instagram for Android be a big deal for you?

Its official, Microsoft has announced that the Windows Phone Marketplace is now available in Malaysia and four other countries – Argentina, Indonesia, Peru, and the Philippines.
Where previously Windows Phone users in Malaysia could only download free apps from the Marketplace, it is now possible to purchase apps as well. For users to have access to paid apps, they must have their devices updated to Windows Phone 7.5 (for update instructions see here).
Microsoft says the Marketplace may take a few hours to be fully activated in all regions and not all apps may be available right away. Developers are encouraged to make their existing apps available in these new countries.
With the addition of the five new countries, the Windows Phone Marketplace is now in 41 markets globally. Since December, the Windows Phone Marketplace boast a collection of 50,000 apps but the whole gamut might not be available for Malaysian users because apps submitted for Malaysia, Indonesia and China are subject to additional requirements due to local regulations.
A quick check on the Windows Phone Marketplace website reveals that the new countries are not yet listed at time of posting this article.
Windows Phone users, we’d like to hear from you. Let us know how the purchasing experience is. Send in screenshots too if you’re keen. Thanks!
If you say you’ve never been addicted to Snake then you’re lying. Back in the day when everyone had a Nokia phone, Snake was the game to play. Actually, it was the only game to play on your Nokia phone.
Now you can waste time like its 1997 again with these remake versions of the ridiculously simple yet addictive Snake game first seen on Nokia phones complete with dot-matrix display, monotone sound effects and original old school controls.
The Snake game is available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone albeit from different developers. It’s free on Android (ad supported) and US$0.99 on iOS and Windows Phone. There’s a free trial version on Windows Phone app which is almost like the full paid version so it’s virtually free. It’s not like Malaysian can purchase any apps from the Windows Phone Marketplace at the moment anyway.

Actually, not really. If you happen to have a bullfrog as a pet and think taking a video of it squishing virtual bugs on the screen of your smartphone is a good idea, think again.

For the artsy people, Instagram is a popular photo sharing app which comes with variety of funky effects and filters. Unfortunately Instagram has always been exclusive to iOS devices which leaves out Android users until now.
With growing popularity, Instagram is said to be releasing an Android version and they have 2 developers working on it right now. There’s no mention of availability but its Chief Executive is excited to see its user base double once it is released. Currently Instagram has about 14-15 million users worldwide and expansion is obviously crucial for their business.
