Here are the first official pictures of the Nokia 800 (aka Sea Ray), one of the first Nokia Windows Phone devices soon to be launched.
The 800 adopts an identical design language to the Nokia N9 with a tough polycarbonate body, curve glass screen and a 3.7-inch AMOLED Clear Black Display. Being a Windows Phone device, the Nokia 800 brings with it the obligatory trio of capacitive navigation buttons as opposed to the button-less design on the N9.
Specs include a 1.4GHz processor, 16GB of storage, an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a 1,540 mAh battery
The 800 is expected to be unveiled at Nokia World 2011 happening next week in London. We’ll keep you posted on any developments till then.
We don’t know about you, but with the Motorola RAZR, Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S now in the market, the upcoming Nokia 800 is looking somewhat dated.

UPDATE: Updated with upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note and NFC support comparison.
With 2 new devices – Motorola RAZR & Galaxy Nexus launched today, it is time for another round of smart phone comparison. Another update is the Galaxy Nexus does not come with expandable Micro SD slot which is a bummer.
Both the RAZR and Galaxy Nexus runs on dual-core 1.2GHz processors and 1GB of RAM. In the OS department, the Galaxy Nexus sets itself apart with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich while the Motorola Razr runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. That won’t be a difference in the next few months as Motorola is planning to offer Android 4.0 upgrades for the Razr.
In terms of screen, the Nexus has a bigger 4.65″ screen with higher resolution Super AMOLED that supports 1280×720 while the Motorola Razr offers a 4.3″ Super AMOLED Advanced with respectable qHD resolution of 960×540. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Nexus supports HSPA+ up to 21Mbps while the RAZR supports up to 14.4Mbps HSPA. This isn’t a big deal since U Mobile is the only one that commercially supports HSPA+.
While the Galaxy Nexus seems to trump RAZR in the screen and OS aspect, the RAZR offers a higher 8MP camera as oppose to the Nexus’s 5MP and it is juiced up with a large 1780mAh capacity battery. Unfortunately the high capacity battery on the RAZR is non removable which probably is a compromise to maintain its slimmest 7.1mm profile. In terms of weight, the RAZR is lighter than the Nexus at 127g but it is still heavier than Samsung Galaxy S II’s 116g weight.
Also worth mentioning is the Galaxy Nexus like its predecessor Nexus S, does not come with expandable microSD slot. This is a bummer for those that intend to store massive photos, music and movies while on the go, beyond its internal storage. For the Galaxy Nexus, there is a larger 32GB version but we’re not sure if they will bring both 16GB and 32GB models to Malaysia.
If both Galaxy Nexus & Motorola RAZR is priced the same, which one will you get? Let us know why in the comments section.
After the two major Android announcements (three if you’re counting the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich as two separate announcements) today, we know that there is probably quite a few of you out there who are torn between the sexy hardware of the Motorola RAZR and the beautiful Ice Cream Sandwich that’s on the Galaxy Nexus, and can’t choose between the two.
Perhaps this new piece of information might make choosing between the two much less of a challenge for you.
At the European launch of the RAZR held a day after the event in New York, Alain Mutricy, senior vice president portfolio and product management for Motorola, explained that although the RAZR had been designed for, and will be launching on, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Motorola is planning to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich update for the device at the “start of 2012″.
Mutricy said the ICS update would carry over all the innovations present in the RAZR. He added that a more precise date would be given in the future. We’re looking forward to this.

The next generation ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is coming soon with a teaser video being released. From the video, the new Transformer appears to be sleeker with a thinner profile and brush metal exterior. The docking keyboard is also shown with a fresher design and comes with exposed USB port without flaps. Apart from that, the main camera now comes with assisted LED flash.
No details of its internals right now but word has it that it will utilise Nvidia’s Tegra 3 processor with quad cores. Hopefully it runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by the time is launches.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich launch this morning happened when many of us were caught in rush hour on the way to work. Naturally because of that, many would have probably missed the event altogether.
Well now you can watch the repeat of the whole thing in 720p HD right here. Enjoy.
Just a short one. We’re just received an update from Brightstar confirming that the sleek looking Motorola RAZR will be coming to Malaysia, and that’s all we know for now as Brightstar did not say when the device will be launch and how much it will cost.
Looking at how things are panning out, a November launch date is very possible and looking at the trend of smartphone pricing currently, the RAZR shouldn’t cost more than RM2,200 or thereabouts.
So, who’s excited?
Just hours ago, the anticipated Galaxy Nexus has finally launched. This is the first device to feature Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS which brings a host of improvements. Availability is slated for November in US, Europe and Asia but no specific countries where mentioned for our region.
As revealed earlier, the Galaxy Nexus runs on a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and comes with 1GB of RAM. Among the biggest highlight is the 4.65″ inch screen that offers HD Super AMOLED display that supports 1280×720 resolution and has a response rate of 0.01ms. The display’s pixel density rivals with Samsung upcoming Galaxy Note which is a 5.3″.
In terms of design, it isn’t the thinnest at 8.94mm but boasts having a 4.29mm bezel. Like the previous Nexus S, the display is also contoured. Over at the back, it also features a Hyper Skin cover which is similar to the one found on the Galaxy S II which gives it a durability and premium feel for an ultra thin profile. We are curious to know if it can bend as well as the Galaxy S II.
For imaging, the Galaxy Nexus comes with a 5MP camera which is pretty low for today’s smart phone standards. Despite that, it is capable of shooting 1080p videos with continous focus and boasts having the one of the snappiest camera without lag. In the demo during the event, the camera seems to be ever ready to take shots instantly which allows you to capture epic moments without fail. Nevertheless, speed and quality are 2 different things and we look forward to its sample photos to find out if it is any good as a imaging device.
The main highlight is the OS itself – Ice Cream Sandwich, which brings tablet and smartphone OS together. On first look, it does look like honeycomb OS as seen on earlier leaks. On top of that, they have added a couple of features such as improved browser, Gmail and Calendar apps. In terms of aesthetics, Ice Cream Sandwich uses a new Roboto font that is more futuristic and inspired by magazine layouts. Several gestures have been added for more seamless actions and like the Android 3.0 honeycomb tablets, the physical Android buttons are replaced with virtual ones that appear at the bottom of the screen.
Since Siri is in the spotlight as an intelligent voice assistant feature, the new OS offers something new in voice control. Instead of recognising speech after talking, the new OS is capable of live speech recognition. This means you can see the text as you speak in near real-time manner.
You can relive the event moments at Engadget’s live blog coverage. For more information of the device, visit their microsite here.

Malaysia’s most up-to-date smartphone store, IMCC, announced that it has dropped the pricing of the Motorola Atrix from RM1,999 previously to RM1,599 currently.
Touted as the world’s more powerful smartphone when it was initially launched in January this year, the Atrix was amongst the first smartphones with a dual-core processor. In this case, the Atrix came with a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, a 4.0-inch qHD 960×540 display, a 5MP camera and a massive 1930mAh battery.
IMCC is also throwing a multimedia dock retailing for RM439 for free. The dock allows the Atrix to be connected to a HD TV via HDMI out. It also allows you to connect a USB keyboard and mouse as well.
The new pricing should reflect on other retailers as well. So check before you buy.

Update: Official spec sheet here
Motorola has just announced the revival of its iconic RAZR brand with the launch of its latest Android powerhouse and we can’t wait to get our hands on this sexy beast!
At just 7.1mm thin (compare: Samsung Galaxy S II 8.5mm, iPhone 4S 9.3mm), the new RAZR is, as Motorola claims, the world’s thinnest smartphone. Yet its svelte body belies the impressive technology that packed within.
At the core of the RAZR’s construction is a pure stainless steel frame that’s designed to give the device strength and rigidity to withstand abuse like being repeatedly squished in back pockets. The RAZR’s back plate is constructed in Kevlar (first time we’re heard of this in a consumer grade smartphone) and its 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display is strengthened with Gorilla Glass. Motorola says the display offers a higher contrast ratio and richer colors than that of the iPhone 4S.
The RAZR also features a unique nanocoating that protects the device from water. The protection even extends to the highly sensitive electronic innards of the device.
Running the latest — not for long — Android Gingerbread 2.3.5, the RAZR is powered by a 1.2Ghz Ti OMAP 4460 dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and 32GB of on-board storage (16 GB on board and 16 GB microSD card pre-installed. You also get an 8MP HD camera with full 1080p HD video recording capabilities in addition to a 1.3MP front camera. The RAZR also packs a large 1,780mAh battery to give the device 12.5 hours of talk time or 8.5 days of standby time. It’s worth pointing out that the battery on the RAZR is non-removable.
In terms of availability, the RAZR will launch globally in November. Motorola Singapore have already announced that the RAZR will hit that market on November 11. We’re expecting the device to come to Malaysia within weeks of that day if not on the same day.
In terms of pricing, everything is unconfirmed now but we don’t expect the RAZR to go beyond RM2,200 considering its closest rival, the Samsung Galaxy S II is currently retailing for RM1,899.
There’s no denying that the RAZR is good looking device that packs quite a punch, but we’re disappointed that it won’t be running Ice Cream Sandwich. Then again, Gingerbread, especially in its 2.3.5 guise is already currently the best Android available, so it might really be an issue after all.
What are your thoughts on the Motorola RAZR?
