The Google Nexus Prime (aka Galaxy Nexus) and Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be the two most important announcements that Google will make this year. While we’re still some hours away to the event unconfirmed specs of the new device has been leaked.
But the spec list is only half the story, even more important will be the launch of Ice Cream Sandwich, probably the most anticipated Android launch since Gingerbread. It will be interesting to see what innovations the latest Android will bring to the game. And we’re very sure that many Android users out there will want to know if their device will an ICS soon after the announcement.
The event will be held during working hours tomorrow starting 0930hrs in Hong Kong (same time in Malaysia), but don’t let that stop you from getting the latest information on one of the most anticipated Android devices to be released this year. The Motorola DROID RAZR will be unveiled later tonight (midnight Malaysian time) in New York and at the same time we can see Motorola Singapore counting down to the launch as well. Closer to home, we have IMCC creating some buzz on its Facebook fan page in anticipation of the big Motorola launch.
This is just a theory at the moment but are we looking at a global launch tonight? While its almost certain that Singapore will be getting the DROID RAZR, will the sexy new Moto make its way to Malaysia as well? We certainly hope so.
Back in its day, the RAZR name was the epitome of style. Whoever rocked a RAZR immediately looked classy. Then the game changed, flip-phones went out of style, replaced with full touchscreen smartphones with the iPhone leading the pack.
Motorola wants to bring the iconic RAZR brand and by the looks of it, it is sexier than ever! Motorola together with Verizon in the US will be unveiling the new RAZR at 12am tonight Malaysian time and we will be providing you with the latest updates.
The DROID RAZR is touted to be possibly the the thinnest Android in the market. It is expected to feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 4.3-inch qHD display along with improved cameras all around and possibly NFC.
The picture above are the first official shots of the device and by the looks of it the new RAZR will give the Google Nexus Prime (aka Galaxy Nexus) a run for its stylish money.
Head on over the after the jump for a teaser of the impending sexyness that is the DROID RAZR.
Yeap, we’re still on the topic of cameras and the iPhone 4S but this time instead of pitting it against another smartphone, the iPhone 4S goes head-to-head with a full-on DLSR in the form of the Canon 5D MKII.
The video you see here compares the 1080p HD video performance of both the iPhone 4S and the Canon 5D Mark II. The video was shot using a special rig that places the devices side-by-side that allows simultaneous recording as well.
To set the playing field as level as possible, the videographer said that both devices were set up so that the frame rate, picture style, exposure and shutter speed were “as close as possible.”
Here are the settings:
iPhone 4S
- AE.AF locked. That’s all you have!
Canon 5D MKII
- Canon 50mm 1.4
- ISO 160 ~ 640 (varied per shot to match the iPhone)
- F 7~22 (varied per shot to match the iPhone)
- Shutter 1/60th
- Auto WB
- Standard Picture Style
- 1080p 30
The iPhone 4S does give the EOS 5D a run for its money. There’s very little separating the two videos but then again the 5D was set to closely match the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 4S may be the new kid on the block but the Nokia N8 that’s over a year old is still the big daddy when it comes to taking spectacular pictures — no exceptions. Just take a look at these snaps! If we didn’t know any better we’d say that they all came from a DSLR or at the very least, a very capable prosumer point-and-shooter.
Pity we can’t say the same about the phone that’s bolted on to the 12MP camera of the Nokia N8.
We’ll be the first to admit that we’re not fans of Symbian in whatever iteration currently or previously available, but if Nokia had half the mind to carry over that wonderful N8 camera to a Windows Phone 7.5 device, now we’re talking. We would probably get that in a heartbeat.
Wouldn’t you agree?
So obviously the iPhone 4S won’t look pretty when dropped on the pavement. What about if it was compared with the Samsung Galaxy S II with its famed Gorilla glass? Watch the video to find out.
