Phones traded-in for iPhone 4 gives a snapshot of days gone by

For it’s iPhone 4 launch, DiGi is offering an RM100 rebate for iPhone 4 purchases when you trade-in your old handphone.

It’s an interesting offer which many value hunting Malaysians will take up. DiGi has put up a Facebook gallery of the phones that were traded in yesterday at Quill 9 and although some may see them a spieces of junk, we see the gallery as a treasure trove of devices from simpler days, days when you get blazing speeds with GPRS speeds of up to 114kbps and Bluetooth was a foreign concept to many, days when keypads where the input method of choice and touchscreens were high-end stuff.

Some of these phones broke new ground while others were experiments in innovation gone wrong, some brands have withered and die while the leaders of those days are now struggling to compete with the Android and iPhone devices of today but whatever it is, all of these phone has had some part to play in shaping the mobile scene today.

Take a look at the gallery on DiGi’s Facebook page and tell us if it made you smile and go, “oh man! I remember that phone” or “hey, I used to have that phone!“. We did.

Thanks for putting up the pictures DiGi. Hope you put more up.

Could you check your newly purchased Iphone 4 for signal attenuation. I would love to see how it goes?
Curious to know if the issue has been solved with these new batches from Apple. After all, the top 5 countries already…. Filtered the iphone 4 issue for us?

    Off topic, not a fan of your screen name :(

hey… i m really getting lot of info from here… right know i just wanted to know is there iPhone4 without contract available either in DiGi or Maxis? If yes, how much is the iPhone's cost? can i buy from singapore and use either with digi or maxis without any problems?

    Hey thanks for dropping by.

    At the moment no outright purchase is being offered but there will be eventually. What the telcos are doing is to get as much people to sign on contracts as possible. After the drive for that dies down, then they will start selling iPhone 4 outright.

    FYi iPhone 4 outright pricing:
    16GB = RM2,290 (Malaysia) / RM2,080 (Singapore SG$888)
    32GB = RM2,690 (Malaysia) / RM2,454 (Singapore SG$1,048)

    Roughly RM200 difference in pricing.

    An yes, if you buy an iPhone 4 from Singapore, it will work perfectly fine here in Malaysia with either Maxis or DiGi or even Celcom.

    Good luck!
